The Mystery of the Venus Island Fetish by Tim Flannery
Things have changed a bit in the five years that Archie Meek has been away. While he became part of the Venus Island’s clan, his colleagues and the museum have experienced personnel shifts, mysterious tragedies, and ever-increasing financial troubles. Four curators have disappeared with either vague or elaborate stories to explain their absence. Four skulls on the Venus Island Fetish, the terrifying mask believed to be evil by the island’s people and is now hanging in the museum, are strangely orange in comparison to the others rimming it. But this is hardly the only puzzle occupying Archie’s mind. After all, how will he readjust to wearing shoes or anything more than a loincloth, really? Why has Beatrice refused his proposal of marriage and rather personal love token? And how will he negotiate his new assignment from the director himself that means to use Archie’s adopted family as an example of unevolved savagery?
The Mystery of the Venus Island Fetish promises a sweet, awkward, intriguing, risque, and amusing journey with individuals to match.
