What’s Your Read?
I blame the excitement caused by the release of a certain movie in only SEVEN MORE DAYS! However, I did ask this time before sneaking a book from a family member’s to-be-read pile, and to his credit, my son acquiesced without hesitation despite the book in question having just arrived for him in the mail (an almost sacred event) from his godmother.
The most dangerous thing about reading books like The Strange Case of Origami Yoda is that the characters tend to bloom fully formed in my mind as my old classmates. Oh, yes, I knew Dwight, Tommy, Sara, Kellen, and alas, Harvey by different names at East Jay Junior High. While we didn’t have a finger puppet Jedi master dispensing wisdom in home room, our nauseating dilemmas of who likes whom and where one’s loyalties should lie at the cost utter humiliation could have used a little assistance from a Force-sensitive entity. We were on our own. Thank goodness no one has to be any longer.
Questions you have. Ask Yoda you must. But what you want the answer might not be.
