Some weeks I’m itching for a good mystery. Others I’m craving an emotional roller coaster. Or fantasy. Or historical fiction. Or goodness knows what. It might be brand new or something ancient or anywhere in between. In any case, it’s nice to share, so …
What’s Your Read?
I adore epistolary stories. Absolutely crazy for them. So after last week’s delve into the turbulent, emotional waters of Go Set a Watchman and consequently finding myself ready for a humorous romp of the ridiculous, The Pavlovas of Butterbrooke Breeze: A Most Curious Correspondence appears to be the book for the job.
The cracks in the picture perfect and proper world of Basty and his Aunt C are glimpsed thanks to a helping of satire and smack or two upside the head with the crazy-stick. He has a not-so-secret secret, she’s passionate about pavlovas, and the gossip flows freely all around.
Sidenote:
I’ll be taking next Friday off from What’s Your Read, because I’ll be reveling mightily at Gen Con. No doubt a book or two will squeeze into my Hufflepuff bag and I’ll be caught sneaking a few pages in between demos, but for four days I’ll be gaming like a madwoman instead of blogging. In the meantime, happy reading!
