Watch out for page 227.
I was doing well considering the main character is a small animal veterinarian, meaning sooner or later there will be a dead critter that will make me sob like I’m three years old. But hey, this is a lighthearted novel; I thought I was going to make it through resembling a fairly balanced adult. Silly Kate. Nope, this charming, romantic, rural adventure poked me in the eyes and made me a snotty mess on page 227.
Regardless, I made it to page 228 (and beyond) of Cathy Woodman’s City Girl, Country Vet only mildly scathed. The romantic element, while nice, is entirely secondary to the array of empathetic and eccentric people and critters who wander about Talyton St. George. Maz already had her hands full before she takes care of her vacationing best friend’s practice, but now all hell is breaking loose, taking Maz with it (courtesy of, among other things, an indigestible pair of underwear).
What a delightfully fun read this is so far. Except for page 227. That one will get ya right in the feels.
